Ashwagandha Could Be Stressing You Out

Is your anti-stress or sleep aid formula actually making your stress and anxiety worse??

Recently I noticed that @ghostwellness Intra workout and Sleep formula contained the upper limited of what’s considered clinically useful of ashwagandha extract.  This means that if you used the two together (because why wouldn’t you?) you were at risk of making your sleep and stress situation worse by taking 1,200mg of the extract.

Doses above 1,000mg can lead to the following:

• Moodiness and feeling emotionally “cut off”

• Worsening of anxiety in some individuals, especially if taken in excess. While ashwagandha is typically used to reduce anxiety, higher doses or individual sensitivity can paradoxically increase anxiety, restlessness, or even trigger panic attacks in rare cases.

• Aggravation of depressive symptoms for some people, particularly if ashwagandha causes a significant drop in blood sugar, which can worsen low energy, mental fog, and lack of motivation.

• Altered thyroid hormone levels: Excessive intake may lead to hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), which can manifest as anxiety, fatigue, weight loss, and “hysteric” behaviors.

• Potential for emotional blunting: Some users report a sense of emotional numbness or detachment.

Check your supplements and always start at the lowest effective dose for you.

In addition, you can switch to a mushroom blend to reduce cortisol and remember to practice proper sleep hygiene.
