Kisspeptin is a naturally occurring peptide that plays a central role in regulating the reproductive hormone axis by stimulating gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn increases luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and supports endogenous production of testosterone and estrogen. Through this upstream action on the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis, kisspeptin can help restore more physiological hormone signaling, which is being explored for benefits in secondary hypogonadism, hypothalamic amenorrhea, PCOS, and fertility support in both men and women. Clinical studies also suggest that kisspeptin may enhance sexual desire and arousal by modulating sexual brain networks and improving measures such as sexual satisfaction and penile tumescence in individuals with low libido, positioning it as a potential therapeutic option for hypoactive sexual desire disorders.
